New mix from Hey Convict!
December 23‚ 2009
Our favorite hipster duo 'Hey Convict!' have put away their hairbrushes for a moment and managed to find the time to record a super nice mix for the upcoming M Division rooftop party. As pointy as their sneakers are, it's well worth the download plus they happen to be ridiculously nice guys too. If you dig their sound make sure to check out their latest collaboration with krautrock legend Dominik Von Sener (The Unknown Cases) and Rosko Gee (CAN) on Golf Channel recordings.

Out now! MDIV 04 - Nacho Patrol presents... "The Africa Jet Band"
August 15‚ 2009
Nacho Patrol presents the Africa Jet Band, a six track EP of mind blowing afro-cosmic jams traversing the darkest corners of the dark continent. Our journey begins in Angola, 1975. Castro sends an expeditionary force to assist the MPLA rebels in their fight for independence. El Fuego En Nosotros Todo is their story - haunting deep slowjam safari meets classic afterhours Loft. Taking it's cues from the thriving Northern Rhodesia Zam-rock scene of the late 70's, Cheetahman is a psychedelic journey of strings, guitars and a deranged organist, whilst Small Stones is a fuzzy afro-funk experience, a tribute to Fela rocking out in a cloud of hashish with his 27 wives. Hippo Aviation AKA Lagos Descent is the sorry end of a brave but corrupted Yom Kippur war veteran pilot, seeking adventure in Africa by smuggling arms, blood diamonds and bags of requisitioned UN rice. The punchy drums, funky guitar licks and relentless demented vocoderised chant are overlaid with Chicago-style strings, a true Africa Jet Band anthem. The aviation theme continues with Caravelle, with its introverted Polygon Window style haunting piano melody and swirling synths propelling the track through the clouds above West Africa. Lastly, Stratus Chant, an epic psychedelic journey into Condrad's Heart of Darkness. Mysterious tribal practices and a battle against the ghosts within, it sounds like a demented alternative soundtrack to 'Africa Addio' and is not for the faint hearted. The package is completed with illustrations by Melbourne born K. Renowden, who retraces both her African heritage and acid flashbacks with surreal and vivid scenery that make this masterpiece a true collectors item. Available September 14 through Clone distribution.

OUT NOW - MDIV 03 - Dennis Garcia "Door to Dimension 4"
March 14‚ 2009
In 1974 Melbourne based musician Dennis Garcia recieved a grant from the Australian government and the IBM Corporation for the creation of music using bio-mechanical feedback devices. With electrodes attached to his head and wired up with cables to trigger both drums and synthesizers, the resulting experiments were released two years later on the album 'Jive to Stay Alive'. Fans of the record included David Bowie, with whom Garcia played keyboards on the 1978 "Low and Heroes World Tour". M Division Recordings present a piece of lost Australian dance music history: Garcia's psychedelic space disco jam entitled 'Door to Dimension 4'. Alongside the original is a straight digital disco rework from Bangkok Impact and a heavy guitar laden version from fellow dimensioneers, Inverto. Available from September throughout the galaxy through Clone distribution.

April 11‚ 2008
Berlin's Sneak-Thief joins the M Division roster with the ‘videoSex’ EP. The title track is a punchy, drugged-out synthetic disco number. On the flip is ‘Mano Kimono’, a raw and percussive disco freak-out given a proper Japanese-style zithering by way of a rocking koto. The remix is by Melbourne four-piece band Inverto, who transform the original into a nearly horizontal funk-synth-rock hybrid. Super limited pressing of 300 copies and available September 22nd through Clone distribution. A1: videoSex A2: The Apostate B1: Mano Kimono B2: Mano Kimono (Inverto version)
